Mapua

Mapua is a very special place, so base yourself in the Waterfront Apartment and enjoy.

Take walks on the beach or kayak on the Waimea Estuary, a place of international significance for bird life where you can see oystercatchers, godwits, terns and spoonbills.

Paddle over to Rabbit Island and enjoy swimming on the beautiful long sandy beach or swim right outside the apartment and float with the tide.

Dine out at great restaurants and cafés and enjoy excellent boutique shopping, all within a 5 minute walk.

Wineries and arts and crafts are nearby, and Mapua's only half an hour drive to Nelson, the Kahurangi or Abel Tasman national parks.

Become a child again, wander down to the wharf and jump off, enjoying the sea once more.

Nelson

Take the scenic coastal drive to Nelson and enjoy this vibrant café town. Visit the galleries to see Nelson's artworks or take the time to wander into the countryside and visit the artisans individually.

Nelson offers fine restaurants, interesting walks, museums and many leisure activities - you can even learn to sail here if you have the time.

If you're here on a Saturday, visit the Nelson market - an eclectic display of the region's arts and crafts, foods and fineries.

Tasman

Or wander out into the country side and explore what the Tasman region has to offer.

Fine New Zealand wines can be sampled at the many vineyards. Enjoy a meal in one of the cafés or visit the artists - potters, painters, sculptures.....

If you feel like stretching your legs, head for the hills in Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes or the Abel Tasman national parks.

The Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks

The Abel Tasman will lure you with its blue green waters and golden beaches.

Go sea kayaking or seal watching. Take a cruise or walk some or all of the Abel Tasman Coastal Walk.

Visit the marine reserve or just listen to the birds calling.

Kahurangi National Park offers day walks or serious alpine tramps. Wander along bush clad tracks up to snow clad peaks.

Listen to the bird song; take your binoculars, there are now some rare New Zealand birds present in the Kahurangi National Park.

Nelson Lakes also has stunning scenery and walking, wander by the lakes through New Zealand beech forests. Take in the lake vistas and enjoy the bird life.
